Career Development
· Replacement lecturer at the University of Hull in 1982 with sponsorship form the Atomic Energy Research   establishment, Harwell, UK.
· Directly afterward joined British Gas and worked in the areas of safety, international research and project   management over a period of 7 years.
· Joined Gasunie in 1989, working in initially within safety and pipeline integrity research. Moved to operations   in 1994 as regional manager and afterwards as district manager with a staff of 150 and operational   responsibility for the southern areas of the Netherlands. Involved in large company reorganisation as change   manager. Currently in the post of General Manager of R&D with the responsibility of setting up a new   commercial business.
Other Relevant Experience
· Dutch representative on International Pipeline Safety Committees in the period 1989- 1995.
· Quality Award based on the European Federation of Quality Management for Personnel Development and HRM   Strategy, awarded 1999.
· Leading role in major company reorganisations, including board representative for establishing and agreeing   social packages, proposal for new organisation structure to increase competition in a liberalised European   market, merger between the two largest sectors of Gasunie (Operations Construction/ Engineering), setting   up a new R&D business.
